An eminently usable Grand Tourer that commemorated the legendary Sergio Scaglietti, coachbuilder for Ferrari
Sergio Scaglietti was with Enzo Ferrari from the company's very beginnings. The creator of some of the most beautiful cars to emerge from Maranello, Scaglietti's technique was compared to that of a sculptor. During the 2004 Detroit Auto Show, Ferrari's then-president Luca di Montezemelo dedicated this handsomely understated, all-aluminum model to the memory of the great designer.
The 612 Scaglietti utilizes an aluminum 5.75-liter V-12 shared with the contemporane-ous 575M Maranello and good for nearly 540 horsepower. Ferrari engineers ingeniously determined that, by mounting this engine midship with a long hood and cab-rearward layout, the weight distribution figures would be comparable to those of a rear-midengined car. The result is undoubtedly a high-performance grand tourer which effort-lessly combines performance, comfort, and class in a platform that offers comfortable seating for four occupants.
Exuding character and dynamic ability, the 612 Scaglietti has the ability to attain a top speed of 195 miles per hour. Classic Pininfarina styling pays homage to the Ferraris of the 1960s with a wide front grill, sweeping body curves, and clean lines. The coves on the side panels are reminiscent of the famous Scaglietti 375MM built for Roberto Rossel-lini and Ingrid Bergman.
This Blu Scoza over tan example was delivered new to Ferrari of Long Island (New York) in early January 2009 and was ordered through the One to One bespoke customer design program it is fitted with the HGTS exclusive sports suspension, exhaust system, and upgraded TCU for its semi-automatic transaxle. Additional factory specifications that further enhance this 612's desirability include, 19-inch ball-polished alloy wheels, black brake calipers, Electrochromatic sunroof Ferrari Navigation and entertainment system, color-matched dashboard and seat stitching, Custom fitted five-piece luggage and full Pleated-style seat upholstery for front and rear occupants.
This 612 appears to have remained with its original New York owner until late 2018, then indicating approximately 6,500 miles. It then passed to its second owner who drove it very sparingly. Currently, it has only 7,570 miles. This superb example of the last true Ferrari 2+2 Gran Turismo is now ready for immediate purchase.
