Palm Beach Worth Avenue Concourso 2019
For the inaugural Worth Avenue, Palm Beach Concours, we were pleased to be in attendance with Mr. Simon’s collection once again. The morning started with an enjoyable 18 minute blast from the workshop to the town center of Palm Beach, allowing us to stretch the legs of all the cars properly. On arrival, we were greeted by a queue of traffic that was befitting such a wealthy town. Ferrari’s of all ages, Porsche’s, Mercedes, Aston Martin’s and newer machines like the Glickenhaus 003. Some of the real highlights included 17 TVX, (DBGT4/151/R) a very special and famous racing 1959 Aston Martin DB4 GT Lightweight, driven by many famous hands including that of Sir Sterling Moss, Innes Irland and Jim Clark! Currently in private caring ownership of Mr. J. Freeman. The next special car a little further down the road that stood out was a very special Porsche belonging to Sir Derek Bell (featured bottom left). Sir Derek’s iconic No. 14 Lowenbrau Spicial Porsche 962 HR1 was built up by Holbert Racing using a 962 chassis for IMSA Camel GT Prototype racing in 1984 through 1987. This particular car, chassis HR1 was a sister car to 003 that scored its first victory in its second outing with Sir Derek, Holbert, and J. Adams at the wheel at Watkins Glen International in 1984. HR1 was constructed in Warrington, PA. and debuted midway through the 1985 season., including a season finale at Daytona. Throughout the morning and remaining day, we managed to meet many of our friends and clients along the avenue. We have taken on some new clients and restoration projects as a result and were pleased to see Mr. Simon win yet another award for his exceptional 1970 Dino 246 GT. IMG_6071.JPG IMG_6082.jpg
