Cavallino 26 was a Big Success!
... We had our annual Open House on Friday during the day. Our shop was open for inspection with some great examples of Competition and Classic sporting cars. We were most proud to have on the premises for our friends and clients to admire the fabulous 1964 Ferrari 330 LMB # 4381, the fastest Ferrari Prototype of the period and absolutely exquisite.
Also, visiting from the UK and sent to us by our friends at DK Engineering was the 1973 Ferrari Daytona Competition #16425 Series 3, the only right hand drive, version and the last “Competizione” Daytona built. With appearances at Le Mans in period and with a wonderful “as raced” patina. Our catered lunch and snacks were a big hit as well as the adult beverages we were happy to provide. Our Open House is getting bigger every year and everyone seems to have a great time seeing friends that come together here at Milestone Motorcars.
Boca Raton Councours
Next up was the Boca Raton Concours at the beautiful Boca Raton Resort and Club. Our clients fabulous 1960 Ferrari 250 SWB # 2639, which we acquired for him and had restored by one of the premier marque specialists in the US won Best in Class. It is now on its way to Amelia Island where it is offered for sale by RM Auctions. In addition, the 1953 one off Vignale bodied Cunningham C3, owned by Mr. Dennis Nicotra that we prepared, was honored with two very special awards and a Best in Class. Boca Raton Concours is one of the loveliest events on the calendar and is going from strength to strength.
Brian Redman's Targa 66
For the second year in a row we attended Brian Redman’s Targa 66 at Palm Beach International Raceway with our clients 1965 Alfa Romeo 1600 GTA. This was a car we found in Italy last year, purchased it and imported it to the US. Prepared in period by Franco Angelini and raced by the renowned Ignazio Giunti to several important wins in the Touring Car wars of the Sixties, this may be one of the most important examples of the breed. At the request of the owner, we sourced a spare original GTA twin plug engine to be rebuilt by our Master Engine Builder and shop foreman, Sergio Cecconi. The owner wanted a more tractable and usable motor with a broader torque curve that could be used on short tracks and on the road. Sergio delivered and our client is extremely happy with the result.
Amelia Island Concours
Next up is the annual Amelia Island Concours, our favorite event of the season. The show is always fabulous and the attendant events, Auctions and parties are always just too much fun. This year we are bringing a very important 1960 Ferrari 250 Short Wheel Base Competizione and a very rare Maserati 200 SI with period racing history in the Southeast including a number of races here in Florida. A marvelous original car and exquisitely beautiful. We are also bringing some fabulous cars from our facility in Boynton Beach that will be offered at Amelia Island by Private Treaty. These cars, from the personal Collection of Mr. Dennis Nicotra, will be displayed at the entrance to the Ritz Carlton during the weekend. These will include his Platinum award winning 1967 Ferrari 330 GTS, his 1929 Alfa Romeo 1750 Grand Sport, the multiple award winning 1953 Cunningham C3, a beautiful 1969 Ferrari Daytona Spider conversion by Straman with a great history and my personal favorite; a 1956 Ferrari 250 GT “Boano” coupe cosmetically restored in Italy and sorted out mechanically in our shop. Not to be overlooked this is a reasonably priced Ferrari that is eligible for every major event including the prestigious Mille Miglia Storico. If you have any questions about any of these important offerings, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me over the weekend. I can be reached on my cell at 203-981-9444.
